Well, I woke up feeling good, and came home feeling good, but the time in between, well, sucked!:mad5: spent over 5 hours trying to get the flatbed to start and run. Kept sucking in air from some unknown location and I am beginning to think that the fuel pump is the culprit! Idk!:nono: anyway, by 2:15 we were on the road and headed up north. Managed to make it up to hal stewards without any probs and spent some time trying to get the piece of metal onto the trailer. Hooked my winch up to it and eventually got it on, but a few things troubled it's loading. Got home and turned it around in the driveway and am ready to head out to the barn! The 6.9 better start this morning or I'll be ..... nothing's been up the road to our barn in years, so some chainsaws will be required!:winky: will take some pics and report back. Oh, the 68 1300b has a dump bed, ra-15 rear axle (man that thing is huge) that has either a power-lock or detroit, np 202 t-case, pto, and Dana 44 front. Front frame is toast as this was a plow truck and it looks like they hit something hard! Patched up the frame w/ 3/8 steel and it still managed to break when it was loaded on the trailer!:dita: if anybody needs glass, a seat, cab, doors, or some interior parts then let me know.

If yore gonna make an occupation outta recovering scrap iron kid, ya better rig up an external fuel delivery system! No sense wastin' time and energy tryin' to run off the dead duck tank(s)!

I thought you wuz goin' ta skool ta git sum smarts? Is junkiron recovery on yore degree plan??

what kinda shape is the heater in? If it is better than the one I have I would be interested.

Swapped out front axles. That's why it was stripped in the first place!:winky it'll get me buy for a while, but had to rescue it from going to the scrapper, but it toasted my weekend! Didn't bring the damn camera again, cause it was at the dorms! No wonder I couldn't find it! Here's some old pics and the front part of the cab is gone now. The passenger frame rail completely ripped off when it unloaded from the trailer!:nono:  oh, and the addiction has been going for a while, just needed to find more space! Had fun clearing the road of blackberries/trees/rocks that had accumulated over the past 10 years!

Next question is whether to eventually source a 6 lug Dana 70 front for this project or get Chevy/dodge 1 ton running gear. Can you say weak!:winky: just the problem of unobtanium brake drums and 6 lug wheels!:dita:

Go modern or go home. It just isn't worth the time, money and hassle to 'build' something with rare crappy parts.

But then I won't be IH!:winky: kinda figured that'd be the best option, but trying to get a front Dana 60 might take a while to find cheap. Will probably have to haul a whole truck home for that one chris.:dita: we will see.

Post a picture of the front of that truck, so we can see what it has now.

Dana 70's came in a lot of configurations, not just the wide-six bolt pattern. Some of them even have bolt patterns and drums that are not unobtanium.
