I'm new here. I ended up with rick's 62 Scout that he had posted on here for sale a little while ago. I am doing some work on the front axle and it is SOA with 3in blocks. I know that I have to extend the shock mounts on top but where do they mount below on the axle? Since its a so do I have to fab those up also.

Rick if you read this any info you have on this particular Scout would be greatly appreciated!

First off lift blocks on a front axle are both unsafe and illegal. I won't go into why they are but they are so find a better way to lift the front suspension on your Scout. As for the shock mounts look at our customer builds as most of them are SOA with the shock mounts welded to the axle housing.

Didnt know that I will have to look into a different way then. The Scout was as is height wise when I bought it.

Add a leaf and coils are the only other options correct?

No, certinaly not. You can have leafs built, custom fit some leafs off another application are just a couple of the options out there. Allot will depend on your skill level and budget. Also you didn't really mention what your intentions are for the Scout. That will also be a factor in what direction you should go.

Budget- I'm on one! It's gonna be a recreational vehicle mostly snow and the occasional 3 mile drive to work. I do want to be able to drive it to the trail not have to trailer it. It is currently registered and does ok I drove it from folsom to placerville (25 miles and 2000 ft in elevation change) it did ok just sluggish. Im actually thinking that I might take the blocks out all around and just leave it as a SOA. I believe I will have to swap out the 35" tires though for some 31". This will elliminate the pinion angle problem, drive shaft length problem, shock mount problem, and should give me a little more power going up hill..... Is that more reasonable?

Yep sure is, just remember with the loss of tire size so to goes your clearance. With that said as long as you're not looking to wheel it hard everything will hold up better with the smaller tire.
