I just recived a 62 Scout its in good shape. Its my first Scout and I noticed on a after drive inspect that theres oil blowing all over...it leaves 4 spots on the ground everywhere I park it.

It seams to be comming from the back top half of the engin I noticed some pooling...my guess is a gasget but I want to be sure befor I take it all apart...

Ill post pictures asap. Its droped an 8th quart ied imagin over the last 2 days. Ive just been drivin around the block here and there trying to locate this mess

If...the engine is original to the vehicle and it is a "true" 1962, then it should have a road draft tube coming out of the lifter cover under the intake manifold. That ventilates the engine interior to the atmosphere. In late '62 and going forward, those engines used an "open" design pcv system and the road draft tube was eliminated.

It's very common for a tired engine to drool condensate and liquid from the road draft tube which then blows all over the bottom side of the engine/truck and drips to the ground once it accumulates.

If...your engine has pcv, then it's most likely completely clogged from lack of maintenance over time and is causing the crankcase to pressurize, resulting in liquid emerging from any and all penetrations sealed with gaskets or seals.

So...we must have pictures and a more accurate description of exactly what you are dealing with (not someone else's "stuff")!

Don't expect these engines to ever be "oil-tight" like a modern engine, ain't gonna happen. But with careful maintenance and proper clean-up when doing appropriate service, they can be made reasonably oil-tight. That vehicle is over 40 years old and no doubt sadly neglected...this is all part of bringing this junk back to life!
