got a set of heads i have had reworked to replace my heads that all the ears where broke off on exhaust manifold mounting tabs. when i removed these heads from the donor engine. some of the rocker arms had shims underneath them. i didnt mic the shims but probably .002 or so. question is how do i get the valve lash correctly when i install these heads. is there a way to measure ? i know the rocker are suppose to be torqued down and are non adjustable. or will the lifters be able to make the difference up

No shims are needed unless you have a very hi-lift camshaft installed. Just bolt down the rocker assembly to the correct torque specs.

Usually the new composite gaskets are quite a bit thicker than the stock steel ones. Put a straight edge on the mounting pads and see if they are all the same height. Also check the height of the mounting stands, from rocker shaft bottom one might be short.
