392 horsepower?

I built a 392 improved for my Scout, it is 040 over, block decked, heads shaved, ported and polished, custom valve springs, balanced rotating, isky 256/262 cam, mallory unilite, stan's tri ys, custom Holley 4150 and the non-egr truck intake. Compression is just less than 9:1. I still haven't stretched it out; it isn't broken in, but it feels strong. Any guesses as to what it would dyno?

About 285 at 4000 rpm at the flywheel. You'd also have about 402 foot pounds of torque at 3500, at the flywheel.

Let me emphasize, these are gross numbers at the flywheel, not net numbers at the rear wheel. The net horsepower numbers will be substantially less due to the operation of all the other engine components (e.g. Various pumps, gears, and auto tranny if you have one).

I'm not sure whether this is higher or lower than you expected, but to me, I could care less about horsepower. Torque is more important in a truck engine.
