2.5" lift kit from IHPA 1969 v8 Scout

I bought a 2.5" lift from ihparts america my 1969 is a v8.
Since we all know that the axles appears not centered since the factory mounted the body forward of the normal location for the v8's, I'd like to spend the time and effort to move the axle up 1" or as much as I can to get it closer to center so it does not have that uncentered look. I plan to run a lt235/85r16 which is a pretty narrow tires and most likely be within the wheelwell - I'd still like to center it.

My question is can I do it with the factory spring plates by redrilling? Do I need a different plate? Do I need to cut the drive shaft?
Any tips can you give? I'd like to tackle this in the morning.

Chris, wow....I can't believe I found your thread although you may never see my reply since it is December 2024. Anyway, I have the exact same problem on my 1969 800A. I put in the CPT spring kit and it actually moved my axle "rearward" in the fender well a bit. Did anyone ever reply as to how to center the rear axle in the fender well. I might just call IHPA if nobody responds. Thanks.
