I have a 79' Scout II with what looks to be a standard GM tilt steering column. The steering wheel had a little play when I first bought it but has gotten worse as of late. I got down to what appears to be the problem. The upper bearing that holds the steel shaft in place is shot which seemed like an easy fix but I cant find a replacement bearing. I went to the local GM dealer ship (after trying all 3 part stores in town) and they said they can order a kit that has a bearing in it but it is $60. Anyone know if I am just barking up the wrong tree or of an alternative solution.
