1972 Scout 2 firewall connection issue

Hello,

can someone recommend a fix for the firewall connector that controls the ground to all instruments. If the truck dies and and I can not restart I "jiggle" the lower firewall connector on the passenger side. Seems like a ground issue?

Is it a good option to hard wire all of those connections individually or is there a different fix? Not savvy in electrical, would like an easy fix.

Start by taking the bulk head connector apart and see if it can be cleaned up. Silicone grease is good to keep moisture out, but it won't fix corroded connections..

Those are not ground wires. If you have the wiring diagram it is the engine connector. If you don't have the diagram it is in the electrical forum. It is probably the wire from the ignition switch to your distributor that is your main issue. If you have a small round needle file, it can be used to clean up the inside of the female pin side of the connection. You can also use the tip of the file to carefully close up the female socket a little if it has spread open. Just don't get carried away, because the male pin still has to go back into it. The the two 10 gauge ammeter/alternator charging wires often get hot when the connections get loose and can wreak havoc with the connections adjacent to them.
