1969 908 P/U

So I have a friend who owns a scrap yard and he is always finding me junk. Tonight I drove out there to check out an IH p/u he brought in, he picked it up knowing I needed some parts for my 1967 t-all.

The first thing I noticed is that the title says it is a 1969 and I thought that in 1969 IH went to the square body stuff. I figure it is a 1968 truck sold in 1969. Any how is a 908 something rare? I have never heard of it, I thought the truck numbers started at 1000.

The truck runs and drives but it is starting to suffer from cancer. So before I rip this thing apart is there a reason to keep it in one piece? If not I plan on stealing some body panels and a few odds and ends and the rest is going to the crusher.

Depends on your "perspective" (or someone else's)

you are correct it is a 68 model year

908 was the "cheap" / "down market model" pickup -- like the basic Chevy biscayne "of the era" / "3 on a tree" / 6cyl -- except I assume this has a 196 4 cyl...

People (on other "boards") have "908s", but I have no clue as to the "demand" to keep them in a stock / original condition.

Mayben probably knows more about this model than I do...

Thanks for the info, it has a 304 and a 3 speed on the floor.

This is good news I won't have to feel bad about tearing it apart. :ihih:

Part it! But save the shell for clean-up and trade material.

If it was a four banger it would have some collectible value for a resto.

Here's the spec sheet on a 908c.

Thanks, it is going to scrap after I get what I want. I will save you the dizzy and the carb like I did with the last one that got crushed.

I might save some of the emblems and what not, May be worth something to someone needing that 1 part to finish off their resto. Just food for thought. Too bad it's so far gone I hate seeing them get parted out just means one less for the future.

Certainly! Save all the detail items, instruments, switches, anything that bolts on, etc. Tailgate (if not rotted), you know what to do, it ain't like yore new to the part-out game!

I am planning on grabbing emblems, knobs, mirrors, and anything else that is worth hanging onto. It's to bad the rust started taking over, it runs real nice. It even had all the receipts in the glove box.

The po was the first and only owner on this rig, he bought it brand new in portland (bisio???) the owner even had a cool story about a bear opening the camper shell hatch to steal groceries.

Then, the rear step bumper is probably original IH, also...
