Always a work in progress. Have owned since 1976. Latest work:
-New clutch, pp,tob, re-surfaced flywheel
-New starter
-All new gaskets/seals on tranny and transfer case
-New rear brakes
-New oil pan gasket
-New steering wheel
Attached are some images of the work.
Old pressure plate was dragging because one of the pressure plate factory finger leveling nuts was loose. Those nuts should never loosen up!
No leaks! Was leaking between trans and transfer case before because someone had installed the shaft keeper upside down and it was holding them apart slightly. I installed it from the top and shaved some off to insure there was no interference with the gasket.
Made my own gaskets using Felpro Karropak 1/16" gasket material and installed with Permatex Aviation Form-A-Gasket.
Salvaged old throw out bearing sleeve by having machine shop install another roll pin to the side of the worn area. This now keeps the clutch fork on good material away from the worn area.
The paint I used is Rust-Oleum Professional High Performance enamel. Dries quickly in 15 min with a hard final finish.
Hope some of this info helps others. Bob in Colorado.
