1965 4x4 pu front driveline

See pics for reference, Im looking into having a new spline put on as this one is shot. The axles on my truck have been upgraded from d44s to a newer d44 front and d60 rear, what Im trying to figure out is if this looks consistent with oem for the truck and if I would be better served to have a new/stronger if needed version fabricated. The rebuild quote through my local shop costs nothing, but Im curious what y'all think it SHOULD cost. No idea how thick the tubeing wall is, but would be good to know so if I confirm the rebuild, I will have them measure. The rebuild includes fresh u-joints, balancing, and whatever the spline needs. Just thought of this as well, I will have a look to see if it's twisted at all, not that it matters much as from what I understand they will cut the spline off and weld on a new one.

*edit: no twisting, atleast none that I can see by eyeballing it.

used to have a 68? 4dr. not knowledgeable enough to give options, but remanufactured / rebuilt is what I would do

Close enough :icon_biggrin: I reckon rebuild is probably cheaper than a new one. I'm droping off the driveline for the quote today so I'll post how it turns out hopefully later this week.

Well I got the quote, basically they want to use one yoke from the orriginal driveline. The rest was "junk" and they had some dificulty sourcing parts(go figure). Their original quote was $350 and after a half cholked question as to whether or not they could negotiate a bit they came down to $300. It is what it is, my 4x4 truck is only half as usefull without it. :cryin: Anyone wanna buy a slightly used apendix.....?
Note this was a driveline shop in west sac as far as I was told.

And the new (slightly improved) drive shaft. The axle end yoke looks like the original one, everything else is new! I will inquire about the name of the shop that did the work (forgot to while I was there) the counter guy at the garage seems to like em and has a few t0y0t@ crawlers. I picked it up and could tell it was a bit lighter, I guess theres probably some higher grade alloys in play 50 years down the road. Acording to Mr. Counterguy they crank these out really fast. I believe him since I gave the OK for rebuild at around 4pm yesterday. Now to grease 'er up and install!
