Hi guys,

I was told you might be able to help me out. I have a 1969 800a with a 1904 Holley on it. I recently purchased a new accelerator pump cam and now need to find the cam linkage that connects to the throttle- I know I can bend one but I need a picture or better yet a used linkage...if anyone can help out that would be great. Thanks!

Welcome to ihon damon!! Are you part of the hill country binders krew? Have I met you before when I was down there?

There were/are several different accel pump links used on the 1904 (at least three I have documentation on). Depends upon the list number, the type/style of the actuator cam, and the location of the cam pivot point actually mounted to your carb. Also, is the carb a unit for the 152 engine (2-3/4" manifold stud spacing) or the 196 (3" nominal stud spacing)? It does make a difference!

If you will post a pic of your exact setup that shows that area of your carb in detail, we can fix ya up with what ya need.

Mike,

thanks for the reply- I am with the hcb group but have not met you. I know you spent some time with some of the guys and they think highly of you. My Scout has a 196 so I think it is the 3 inch spacing. I am attaching a few images to see of that will help. I bought a new plastic cam recently and I hope that is the right part- you will see it in the pictures. Thanks again for your input and assistance.

Damon

We're in the planning stages of making a road trip to tejas around xmastime, gotta visit my folks in foatwuth, and kid/grandkidz up around clarksville where hcb kim hails from!

We'll be down for jaw session agin with the hcb krew also unless pusholine hits $5 a gallon by then, if that happens I'm takin' the bus (I refuse to fly ever again thanks to this gummint).

As always, yore pics tell the real story here! Your carb is not a 1904, but rather a Holley 1920, the "evolved" version of the 1904 that has a one-piece main body that incorporates the fuel bowl originally manufactured for the 1904. Your "list" number for reference purposes is "4591" as seen stamped into the top of the body.

It is a 3"-spread stud pattern for the mounting flange which is proper for the 196 and some of the amc motors and also some of the true ihc-produced six cylinder engines.

While the actual nylon accel pump cam is shared with some variations of the 1904 (not all), the link is somewhat different since the throttle lever/arm itself is different. I don't have any "spares" of those parts.

But...guess what...we have brand new ones (actually nos)!

This pic shows one of a deep inventory we have of the actual correct kits for that carburetor as marketed under the navistar brand. As you can see, the sleeve contains a new nylon cam, along with the operating link. These kits are far more complete than any other aftermarket kit ever marketed under any brand. And as you can see, these are "sealed" in their original packaging, the gaskets are still fresh

we also have a few of these same kits that are somewhat older since they are packaged in IH boxes used prior to the advent of the navistar brand around 1986.

The last time we shipped some of these kits, the cost was $64.95 plus shipping of $12.50. If you are interested in the kit, please call Jeff at the store (530-268-0864), ask him about ihon part number sl407041-c92. If ya make a deal, then Jeff will send me a copy of the invoice as a packing slip and I'll ship it right out from my location, we currently have plenty of these in stock.

Right now, we're not breaking these kits down for individual service parts/components since the demand for 'em is pretty steady. If we part 'em out, then we won't have all the stuff we need for reconditioning ihon customer carbs.

I do have a great manufacturing resource (not Holley) for most all individual parts for the 1920, including the nylon pump cam, but not the pump cam link! I'm putting together an order now for many of the small individual/problematic parts used on all the variations of the 19xx mixers so that ihon will have that stuff available soon.

For more information regarding the "19xx" series of mixers check this thread, pay attention to posts # 22, 23, and 41. Those all deal with the carb you are working with.

Thank you for the order damon!

I've got your kit packed and ready to go. Our cut-off for usps here in the valley is now 3:30p pdt, so it will go out tomorrow (Tuesday) usps priority mail.

If you need any help with this carb setup post here and we'll talk ya through it. I know you are going to be impressed with the quality of this one, these kits are substantially higher quality overall than the stuff we source through wells or standard hygrade.
