152 main bearing

I am in the process of replacing the main and rod bearing in my 62 s80. I ordered Sealed Power mains bearings PN 4070M and the rear bearing does not fit, too narrow.
 
  • When you say too narrow, is it just a little or like 1\16.
    That is the thrust bearing and they won't just drop over the main saddle. That will be a tight slip to tap fit. Make sure you deburr the cap and block. Even smooth the sharp edge so it doesn't shave metal. Use a fine stone or single cut mill fill and break / fillet those 4 sharp edges, remove all burrs on the sides and clamping faces. That should be the correct bearing set.

    If you have a digital caliper or large enough micrometer. Measure the width of the cap. I can compare what you get to my NOS 152 block.
