152 delco dist plug wire routing.

Plug Ugly

Member
Am I correct with the 152, that the #1 plug is the front cylinder, and works back to number 4?

What is the proper wiring on the dist? The way mine is rotated is at approx 12,3,6 and 9 with the dwell window at the 12.

Ignore the numbers on the dist. I copied what was there originally, and I think that May be why it doesnt run. Currently, 1 is at 12, 3 at 3, 4 at 6 and 2 at 9. I dont think it s right. Im getting popping, but no running from fuel poured in the carb.

You can plug wire the cap any of four ways, all that is important is that the distributor is stuck in with the rotor tip pointing to a cap contact point. And...the engine is rotated so that number one cylinder is at tdc on the compression stroke when the timing marks align at o*tdc.

Do not stab the distributor when #1 cylinder is at tdc/timing marks align when it's on the exhaust stroke! If in doubt, pull the valve cover and watch the rocker arms for #1.

The cap contact the rotor is pointing to becomes #1, then continue around the cap clockwise inserting plug cables in the engine firing order which is:

1>3>4>2

the cylinders are numbered 1,2,3,4, from front to rear.
