Default Upgrade steering on 1970 800A

I am restoring my scout and the steering is horrible! A friend suggested installing rack&pinion. Has this been done and if so, which r&p would increase steering travel? My scout currently takes 3 full rotations to move the wheel 3 inches, which does not allow it to quite make a 90 degree turn. Help please?

Look into putting in a scout II power steering set up or, there is a guy over at BP that successfully installed Saturn electric steering.

IH parts America does have a power steering kit for the 800's. Saw it on display, at the fall rallye last weekend, and talked with Michael about it. Looks like a good quality kit. The steering gear box looks very similar to the Scout II boxes, and mount the same way. But not the same gear box
