Default Scout 80 and Miata Engine

I have a Scout 80 ready to be rebuilt again. The engine is shot and I have access to a 1996 Miata Engine, my question is will fit. The Miata engine has 133hp, is that enough engine? I believe the original engine had 96 hp.

There likely is no adapter plate made to make that engine bolt to an IH trans/transfer case? And what do you plan on doing for the fuel injection?

Good question, the scout had some rust issues so it's completely broken down. I patched up all the spots and reinforced the chassis. Now all I need to do is put it back together. And can ge the engine for free. Was just trying to save a few dollars. Guess I'll end up buying a SBF engine or just get the standard 196 that fits the 80.

Sometimes "free" ends up costing you a lot more when all is said and done. That engine would be plenty powerful for the S80, but how would you get the power from the engine to the axles? Everything would be a total one-off cu$tom fabrication as I doubt anyone on the planet has done this particular swap.
