![]() Hi guys, want to ask a question here on my clutch linkage. First off i have a 1970 800A with a 196 & 3 speed trans, manual linkage clutch. When i purchased this vehicle it had a 2" body lift which naturally threw my linkage off. i have since removed and installed the correct body bushings to bring everything in line. the problem i am having is there is no travel once the throw-out bearing mates with the pressure plate. The throw-out arm hits the firewall. ive attached a couple pics to show. There is no pressure on the pedal and as you can see it nearly hits the firewall already. i am wondering if there is a linkage issue, clutch arm or pressure plate issue. The only linkage adjustment is at the pedal. the weird part is the throw-out arm (pictured) is already at the firewall before stepping on the clutch.
let me know what you guys think. Last edited by NatesIH; 02-04-2019 at 12:13 PM.. |

![]() The PO raised the body 2" and made some kind of modification to the original clutch linkage to make it work with the body lift.
You removed the 2" body lift. Now you have to determine what the PO did to modify the clutch linkage, and un-modify it back to original configuration. Do you have the IHC parts catalog for your Scout 800A ? If not, that would help you to figure it out.

![]() You probably also want to check the clearance between your cooling fan and the fan shroud if there is one installed.

![]() Has that linkage in the picture you posted been modified in any way? Looks like the original linkage was lengthened using a piece of tubing but its hard to tell as not all of it is showing in your pictures.
