Rotten news wayne. I thought you had sourced a mixer that was working well for you. Is it not smog compliant? I wish I had an answer for you man. It seems all I've got is questions. Sorry for your woes.

I'm of the opinion that some how finished or not these carbs that are in limbo be boxed up and returned to their owners asap. I think the process is not functioning. With the bee coming up and Jeff heading to it. He can gather it all up and distribute it appropriately. Maybe Jeff can answer this.

Hey wayne- unless you're going "all original," you can use a q-jet and still pass smog. I've got one on my '79 down here in socal and its passed every time no problem. As far as a visual inspection, I think most techs have never seen a Scout, or a t-quad for that matter. A stock looking q-jet fits right in the decor.
If you need pics or help plumbing, let me know. I'll bang some off to you.

I've got a thermoquad sitting in my garage off a '79. I can't guarantee that it works perfectly but it wasnt leaking and was shooting gas properly when I pulled it from my cracked engine. I'm up in redwood city. Pm me if you're interested.

Hi tahoedonner,
yes I am interested. How much do you want to your tq carb? I am in san jose and I can pop up to redwood city whenever you are around, or something.

Reading through this thread has been kinda scary...I hope wayne got his carb back.

Anyway...anyone have any advice on where or who can and will reliably rebuild one of these thermoquads for a 1979 Scout II?

I don't know if he got his original back. I know that he purchased another used sii variant. Scott hickman (member 1975ih200) is pretty knowledgeable about the t-bogs. I don't know if he would be willing to rebuild one for you, but you could ask. At the very least, he would probably be willing to advise and direct you in the process.
