Don't have to disassemble the transfer case, but you do have to pull it out of the truck. Have to loosen the shift arms inside, and the shift rails have to come out. Wear safety glasses when installing, removing the balls. Make sure you get a procedure, there is a bunch of twisting and a very specific order.

(Don't worry about getting arrested when I drive the Scouts).
