Re: Replace or rebuild Holley 1920 on 232

You might have better luck searching AMC enthusiast forums. Yes, its an IHC vehicle, but the engine is not IH. Answers to questions like these can be a numbers game and the numbers on an IH...

Re: look for repair / garage

That's too bad. It sure is hard to find any reputable shops willing to work on these old piles anymore. Just a bunch of slackers and shysters mostly. IH Parts, who owns this forum, does a great...

Re: 1964 Travelall - 5 Speed Trans. Mounts

Call IH Parts Monday morning when they open and see if they can come up with what you need. Then bill it to the shyster shop. This is just another one of the horror stories that reenforces the point...

Re: 68 Scout 800, 152ci 4cyl, hesitates during acceleration

This isn't set in stone, but generally speaking, backfires that occur at the carb are the result of a lean condition. In other words, not enough fuel and too much air. Another way to describe...

Don't beat yourself up. That's been done many times before.

Re: Correct thermostat for 152 ci, 4cyl.

Oh, the big-bore 4-popper! I noticed that "some" verbage too. Not sure on the significance of it. I have SV8 engines, so it doesn't apply to what I drive. You can wait until business hours and...

Re: Correct thermostat for 152 ci, 4cyl.

No to generic, over the counter t-stats. The prescription calls for this:

But, before you venture too far, I suggest you acquire a low...

Re: Determining vehicle owner history

I've never owned that one. You can cross me off the list of potential owners. One down, elevendybillion more possible owners to go. Process of elimination will eventually get you there.

Re: 68 Scout 800, 152ci 4cyl, hesitates during acceleration

You really don't want to be running that much advance timing as your initial, static setting. That is just a bandaid...and a very porous and virus infected one at that. You should be down around 10...

By all means if'n yer that froggy. We better make a formal plan with date certain in that case.

Re: pressure in the radiator

Dave, if you don't have one of those cheapo Prestone flush kits already tapped into one of your heater hoses, I can testify that they help the flushing process by allowing you to back flush...

Re: turn signal chaos....

It's a Scout II right? In addition to what's already been stated, keep in mind that the SII firewall bulkhead connectors SUCK! They suck balls. Unless we're talking about a very late model SII...

Re: 1973 1210 345 V8 Speedometer Cable & Vented Gas Cap

Welcome to the forum. Can't help with the gas cap question. I went to Stant's website and they didn't have any listings. You could use a seamstress tape measure for a close measurement of the...

Re: Grinding in transfer case

Yeah, that button was added by a previous owner. It is not original equipment. It also has nothing to do with your 4x4 function. The reason that area has a "4x4" label above it is, some models...

Re: 1965 D1100 4x4 driver/project

In this case, you are being paranoid. A couple months is nothing. The residual oil coating/film deposited the last time the engine ran doesn't just drop off overnight. When the dormant interval is...

Re: Grinding in transfer case

In addition to what's already been mentioned, you never want to engage 4x4 in any vehicle on a hard, dry surface. There's no better way to break shit then to do that. You should only engage it...

It's a beautiful truck. Since it's in the FREE section and your just dead set on giving it away for nothing, I guess I could make the sacrifice and take it off your hands.

Re: Broke my gas pedal

Ok. Someone probably got in a hurry and forgot to pull that piece from inventory to stuff it in the box. It can happen. Like I say, they'll make it right, if you give them the chance.

Re: Broke my gas pedal

That's business hours. Nothing can be done over a weekend or holiday. The bend might be intentional. If not, they'll make it right, but I don't see it affecting function at all. I think it is assumed...

Re: Looking for the best choice in a front dana 44

Fubar-ed huh? That sucks. The least upsetting to the apple cart is probably going to be a similar FA25/26 that hasn't been fubared. I don't think IH offered a high pinion D44 FA. If you go some...

Re: Testing the Fuel Gauge

Yeah, the stock tire size was something like 27 or 28" diameter, so that's quite a change. The speedo adapter mounted to your t-case where the speedo cable is attached was calibrated to make your...

Re: Testing the Fuel Gauge

On your fuel economy figures, are those based on GPS measured miles or known distance measured? In other words, I wouldn't be relying solely on the odometer for accurate distance measurement,...
