Re: Brake Combo Valve

Picture please, IHPA sells a few different proportioning valves. If the switch is reading open, the switch plunger should be centered. Don't believe it is a "reset" button per se. Probably a relief...

Re: Dinner meeting Tuesday April 9th Smokin Pig

Here is the flyer for the Buckeye Bonanza at Hollister Hills 5/30 - 6/2. Last year was a low turnout, first time they had the event, Area 5 was almost empty, less than 20 people camping. Basically...

Re: El Cheapo Brighter Headlights

The 12VDC wires that that used to go to the headlights go to one side of the coil contacts on the relays to energize them, the other side of the relay coils go to ground. The 12 or 10 gauge wire...

Re: El Cheapo Brighter Headlights

I made an L bracket to mount the relays on. One screw at the top to the right of the socket holds it in place, and the coils are also grounded there. Makes it easy to work on without pulling the...

Re: El Cheapo Brighter Headlights

I mounted the relays between my battery and the firewall, and used the wires that used to go to the headlights to power the coils of the relays. Still need to make sure the pins on the bulkhead under...

Re: Replace or rebuild Holley 1920 on 232

I run a Weber 38 degas on my 258 and have no complaints. It's a two barrel with mechanical secondary. Might have issues finding an adaptor though.

Re: Dinner meeting Tuesday March 12th Smokin Pig

Hollister Hills Buckeye Bonanza Saturday June 1. They don't have much information posted yet. Last year they opened area 5 early on the Friday before and you could camp overnight for 5 bucks. You...

Re: 68 Scout 800, 152ci 4cyl, hesitates during acceleration

The best way to check the vacuum advance is with one of those small hand vacuum pumps that have vacuum gauges on them. I would also make sure the mechanical advance is working smoothly by...

Re: Hey Hondo....

I'd go Saturday or Sunday, been fighting a horrible head cold, so haven't been involved with setup this year.

Re: Grinding in transfer case

Just a couple of basic things that may help. When you push the transfer case into 4 hi or 4 lo you are engaging the front output coupler of the transfer case, which applies power to your front drive...

Re: speedo gears???????

If the chain drive transfer case is still around, I would do a sanity check and see what direction the speedo drive turns on it. Are the physical locations of the speedo outputs on the old and "new"...

Re: How to tighten bull gear nut?

I took the top off and put it in any forward gear and reverse at the same time by moving the sliders around. Still need somebody big to hold onto the transmission while you torque it with a big ass...

Re: Grinding in transfer case

Should be no "button" involved. We could use a little more information, in particular, Manual or automatic transmission, locking or lock-o-matic hubs up front. If you have locking hubs, get it into...

Re: 1970 Scout 800A clutch linkage issue

You probably also want to check the clearance between your cooling fan and the fan shroud if there is one installed.

Re: January 8th meeting at The Smokin Pig

King covers did the headliner in my old 84 Suburban, and they did a real nice job. I removed the headliner and took it in. Wasn't cheap, but you usually get what you pay for.

Re: speedo gears???????

They do make reverse drives that look something like the adapter you have in there. Does the speedo read anything when you are in reverse?

Re: Shims on cpt spring kit

If the kit came with longer shackles, they will tilt the differential pinion up when the front of the spring is lowered, and also rotate the outer "Cs" forward - which is bad for caster. The shims...

Re: Unknown Connection?

That looks like the "battery feed connector" and is a basically a factory junction box. It's in the upper left of the wiring diagram. Note the attached diagram is for a 74 Scout.

Re: LEAN DOWN ON DRIVER SIDE

Recently noticed an unsettling inch and a half droop on the drivers side of my 75 Scout. Culprit turned out to be the crappy red spring bushings that came with my 4" Skyjacker springs. These bushings...

Re: T-18a 4 speed manual trasmission

Re: robert shaw thermostat

Pot of water on the stove is a good test, put it in the pot and verify where it opens with a meat thermometer or similar device.
