IIRC there are 3 different length sleeve lengths available. Do you still have the old sleeve to compare?

Bring it to a good auto parts store and they can look it up. Follow the line from the MC and I will bet it goes to a hydro boost unit under the drivers seat. They are usually what goes out. Last one...

That was for the old style oil fill. When the PCV valve was added, the oil fill moved to a sealed cap on the valve cover.

Sounds like it could be a pilot bearing. Is it hard to shift from neutral into first or reverse when not moving?

Rebuild it. There was no alcohol in fuel 30 years go. A new quality kit will have components designed to last with new fuels.
