Re: Dana 300?

I stand corrected. Winchested is correct, D300 speedo connection is on passenger side. I have an Advanced Adapter's heavy duty output shaft on the one in my Scout, and the speedo connection is on...

Re: Dana 300?

Sounds like a jeep or aftermarket rear output shaft assembly. If the twin sticks work, I would keep them. Speedo connection should be on the driver side. They may have cut off the ears from the front...

Overlanding in style

Saw this down at Joshua Tree last week, quite the rig. Even has solar panels on top.

Re: Identify Part

You need to be careful and do your best to get any metal chips created in the removal process from going into the engine, this is a vacuum port, and any debris will get sucked into the intake where...

Re: Pertronix Ignitor I II or III?

The Pertonix 1 will die if the ignition is left on without the engine running. You don't have to do it, a guy at America's Tires killed mine. Same guy who said my truck was stupid because he couldn't...

Re: 71GreenScout

All except 1980 Scouts have 0 factory caster, probably to make them turn easier off road. I think of caster as a setting that causes the Scouts front end to actually lift a little when the steering...

Re: Wheel stud.

Wondering if you are running aftermarket rims with 5/8 mounting holes instead of 1/2. If that's the case you should get some larger 5/8 studs, or do what I did, get some bronze shaft bushings, 1/2"...

Re: Problem starting engine

You have answered my question, and Scout Boys as well. Sounds like your wiring is mostly original and was working fairly well until recently. Your added ignition switch is basically jumping the...

Re: Problem starting engine

Are you jumping the starter to get the engine to turn over? If you are using the key switch, there is power somewhere. There should be a fusible link, I believe coming up off of the starter's battery...

Re: Random Misfire

Unless you've installed a new one recently, might want to check your fuel filter as well, especially since it is happening under load. Also the first ignitors tend to die if you leave the ignition on...

Re: T-19 Shifting Question

At this point other things to check are your motor mounts and transmission mounts. If the motor or transmission are moving around it will raise havoc with your clutch linkage.

Re: T-19 Shifting Question

Have you tried pulling the access cover off the bottom of the bell housing to try and see what's going on? A couple of other things to check if you take the access cover off is if the pressure plate...

Re: T-19 Shifting Question

I'll agree that it sounds like a clutch or pilot bearing issue. There is also a spring in the T-19s top cover linkage that can break and cause you grief. I doubt it would get replaced in a typical...

Re: what are those parts for ?

That is the windshield wiper fluid pump reservoir, should be a small electric pump under it.

Re: what are those parts for ?

The radiator coolant overflow tank usually mounts on the driver side fenderwell between the battery and the brake master cylinder/vacuum booster.

Re: Dash, Marker and Tail Lights out

Hi Jake. There are two rectangular rubber bulkhead connectors coming through the fire wall high up on the passenger side. Try unplugging and reseating these first. They are the source of your type ...

Re: B.A.B.S. Summer Picnic July 20 - Save the date

Sounds good, I'll be there. Danika gave birth to Maliki a 6 pound 2 ounce baby boy last Monday, so I'm officially an old geezer grandpa.

Re: Help needed - front axle id

Quick way to tell is the cover on the 30 is symmetrical, and the cover on a 44 is not. If you look at the cover on the 44 in the back you will see the difference.

Re: Cluster F**k

Did you try replacing the distributor cap and plug wires? If you were getting shocked from the wires, they are probably toast. The Pertronix is going to give you a hotter spark, which will make bad...

Re: Brake Combo Valve

Picture please, IHPA sells a few different proportioning valves. If the switch is reading open, the switch plunger should be centered. Don't believe it is a "reset" button per se. Probably a relief...

Re: Dinner meeting Tuesday April 9th Smokin Pig

Here is the flyer for the Buckeye Bonanza at Hollister Hills 5/30 - 6/2. Last year was a low turnout, first time they had the event, Area 5 was almost empty, less than 20 people camping. Basically...

Re: El Cheapo Brighter Headlights

The 12VDC wires that that used to go to the headlights go to one side of the coil contacts on the relays to energize them, the other side of the relay coils go to ground. The 12 or 10 gauge wire...

Re: El Cheapo Brighter Headlights

I made an L bracket to mount the relays on. One screw at the top to the right of the socket holds it in place, and the coils are also grounded there. Makes it easy to work on without pulling the...
