Re: speedo gears???????

That is the correct direction. Your POV when looking at the doohickey is the same as looking at the speedo from the drivers POV (point of view). From the back of the speedo the direction of rotation...

Re: Holley 1904 Economizer

The metering plate contains all of the low speed and premain jet calibration for a given application. There is a number stamped on the metering plate that relates to its intended application.

Re: Holley 1904 Economizer

Unfortunately I donít know of anybody who repairs these. As you have probably read, between Michael Mayben and I we rebuilt them but after Mayben retired from IH stuff it ended.

Re: Holley 1904 Economizer

The long tail goes down and the tapered end is supposed to seat in the hole. Problem is the housing is worn out and the poppet just falls out. Your poppet is also missing the short actuator tip that...

Re: What is this hole?

On one that I rebuilt for a IH fan, I machined a plug and grooved it for an oring pressed it in. No reason you can't fine a piece or metal the correct size and silicone it in.

Low Serial Number 61 Scout 80

Before all of this personal public IH exposure, before my 65' CS, I had a fairly low serial number(7000's) 61 Scout 80 that I played with and eventually tore apart in the interest of making it a nice...

Re: 1964 Travelall and 1967 Travelette All Wheel Drive's

Update good and bad. So the bad first. :mad2:
Have not touched the 1200C as I said I was going to above. Not out of the question, but it seems like the IH gods have found it in their hearts, and...

Re: 345 lifter problems

Following the instructions in my post above are best. Your choice on replacing the cam and lifters (I would) and make sure you polish the journals the correct direction.

This cam has to glide...

Re: 345 lifter problems

I've got to call BS here. Not meaning to offend anyone but rather to dismiss wrong internet lore.
This grinding the bearing myth thing has grown out of not understanding how things should look when...

Re: new IHPA master cylinder questions

You have manual brakes and that master may be for a power booster. The geometry binding you are having canít be avoided. Is there a non power master available?

Re: fuel tank question

Do you have an emissions label? Do you have to smog it? If not use a vented cal that allows venting both ways. The pressure indicated that all venting out of the tank is blocked.

Re: fuel tank question

A 77 was a smog rig in CA IIRC, and the cap in that case is sealed so as not to allow fuel vapors to pass out of it but it should let air in to the tank.
Do you have a charcoal canister, and vapor...

Re: new IHPA master cylinder questions

What master # and for what? Photo of the push nut you are referring to would be super helpful. ;)
The actuator rod would seat hard against the piston and usually in a hemispherical seat.

Re: 345 lifter problems

I see your concern about the rocker assembly oiling. The oil flow is fairly slow and drippy, not a heavy flow.
On that note I sincerely hope it is a simple fix, but the lifters are fed only from the...

Unfortunately it sounds like wiped cam bearings. This has come up more than once. Did you properly preoil the new engine before running it?
Here is one....

Re: Custom buggy

If you have ever looked at a ring and pinion, you'll see that there is a drive side and coast side of the gear tooth interface. Drive side = low angle, coast = high angle. The high angle interface...

Re: The "Fuel Tank" Thread

IIRC the sender should read 0 ohms when full and 70 or 90 when empty. Read the sender from ground to the sender wire with your ohm meter. This should be the first thing to be the first thing to...

Re: Selection of Shocks/Unf@cking PO Bodge Jobs

It's normal for the shock to be the limiting factor in axle drop on OEM setups. Other considerations come into play like drive line and brake line limits.
If you need more shock travel that you can...
