Re: Cluster F**k

If you go with U-seals, they need to fit in the spring ID. This includes the damper that most times comes installed in a single valve spring.

So, size the seal to the valve stem diameter and the...

Re: Cluster F**k

Super easy to install, do them one cylinder at a time, bring them to TDC stroke, pressurize the cylinder. Remove the rocker assembly, remove the spring retainer and spring. Slide the new seal on to...

Re: completely stumped Scout II 304

Just putting it out there.
To me it sounds like the cap is carbon tracked. Hard to pick threw the possible causes without standing in front of it. I really don't think it is a major issue but...

Re: 1964 Travelall and 1967 Travelette All Wheel Drive's

Travelette update. The OG 304 continues to run like a top and despite my constant whipping and boot heels to the ribs, it is a very reliable rig. Still leaks oil but what IH doesn't.

The disk...

Re: The Ultimate IH Fourbanger

Still mulling over the location for the turbo. I have sourced another GT turbo with journal bearings and no water required. It has better turbine flow capacity and still will support 250 hp. It is...

Re: completely stumped Scout II 304

I have had bad experiences with the crappy Chinese condensers. In my own engines and on others that I have helped with. It is so bad that now I only buy NOS Standard (other American made) condensors...

Re: completely stumped Scout II 304

Pull a couple of plugs after it runs and dies to see it they are wet. It almost sounds like it could flooding from to much fuel.

Re: completely stumped Scout II 304

Put the choke on.
As soon as it fires push it in just a bit. Assume manual choke.

Re: completely stumped Scout II 304

Not ignoring SB74's question but to my posts, just give the dizzy a 5* ccw turn , lock her down and see if it helps. If not you may be on the wrong TDC.

1 would expect it to run there but given...

Re: completely stumped Scout II 304

So.... retarded timing makes the burn rate slow enough to ignite the air fuel mix coming in on the next intake stroke. To much advance will cause the engine to back up and stop rotating. You would...

Re: completely stumped Scout II 304

I would slowly advance the timing (dizzy ccw) till it runs. Then check the timing. If advancing helped, your heading the right direction.

Re: completely stumped Scout II 304

Good to see you around TY.
Yes, old habit. Dead timing correctly will get you with in 1 degree if you load the rotor to compensate for running loads.

Since I was a teenager I was using...

Re: completely stumped Scout II 304

You're in good hands with SB74 but I thought I'd interject on this post.
You mention before this post that you think the points are breaking 17deg retarded for #8. If that is true, there is your...

Re: The Ultimate IH Fourbanger

I was referring to the engine block pad where they also stamp the SN of the engine. I think the mock-up was once a 152T from the parts on it. The block is stamped 152E.

This GT turbo is smaller...

Re: The Ultimate IH Fourbanger

Does anybody know if a oem turbocharged 152 was stamped with a T in its ID pad, EG 152T instead of 152E or 152A?

Re: The Ultimate IH Fourbanger

Got my 2 bold manifold and swapped it on to the mock up engine. It is exactly the same flange height as the 3 bolt 152T manifold. It will have the rear bolt in a difficult location so I'll use a stud...

Re: Holley pro jection 2d off idle stumble, poor gas mileage

I would drive it in the faulty range for a time and pull a couple of plugs. A plug reading should give you an indication of if the unsteady ness you are experiencing is a lean or a rich condition.

Re: Holley pro jection 2d off idle stumble, poor gas mileage

I would try to validate the 02 sensor. In closed loop it will be supplying the data that the control uses to dial in the air fuel ratio.

Re: Holley pro jection 2d off idle stumble, poor gas mileage

If you are indeed running in closed loop(heated 02) it should self calibrate to stoichiometric AFR.
The stumble you mention is on throttle advance only?

Re: The Ultimate IH Fourbanger

You might be on to something. I have two of these manifolds and one for sure came from a 152T. This mock up engine has a special port in the lifter cover that was likely the oil return for the oem...

Re: The Ultimate IH Fourbanger

I think I am going to try and utilize the OEM 3 bolt exhaust manifold. Did a very rough mock up, and I think it will work. Plenty of space for the turbo charger and plumbing.
The compressor housing...
