In my experience the 6959 & the M6959 are the same, except one of them has the pump body further away from the mounting engine surface to provide more clearance.

I find either pump will fit in...

Flush without a radiator in place:
Remove thermostat, remove radiator, build PCV pipe to connect editor hoses.
Your heater core is already out, so connect heater hose from inlet on engine to outlet...

The thing to check on water pump is the volute clearance. It should be .015.

Since your vehicle has an electric fuel pump, installation of an Edelbrock p/n 8190 adjustable fuel pressure regulator may be useful.

That carb is a square-bore carb.
Does your engine have a square-bore intake manifold?
In '74 & '75 IH put spread-bore Carter Thermo-Quad carbs on the pickups & Travelalls & Scouts.

Engine 'off', ignition in 'on' or 'run' position, with a points ignition you should have around 9 vdc at the coil + terminal.

Engine starter engaged, you should have around 12 vdc (full battery...

That is the Holley electronic distributor, the Holley "Gold Box" is mounted on the firewall adjacent to the DTM unit you removed and photographed previously.

Be aware, only one head will get oil at a time.

The #2 cam bearing feeds the left head and #4 cam bearing feeds the right head.
The cam bearing holes do not align to feed oil at the same time....

Choke - Yes, you will probably be fine without the choke heater. My truck has the divorced choke and vacuum choke pull-off (without the heater) on a ThermoQuad 4-barrell carb and it starts just fine:...

Just an FYI, that is info that should be in your first post.

So I am assuming you have a good 12V battery in the Scout and are cranking the engine over with the starter. Correct?

That is a GM-Delco distributor, and probably the original unit.
It is very dirty.

It looks like the points, condenser & rotor are fairly new.
