Re: Key On Constant 12v Power Source

If you are certain there is not a resistance element in the positive coil circuit, you could use it. If there is a resistance element in that circuit, run a new wire from the same circuit feed at the...

Re: The Ultimate IH Fourbanger

I have then adapter in hand, fresh off the VMC. Works as expected. While this is a small turbocharger the adapter will allow multiple larger options down the road. The 152 IH with it's flow...

Re: 1967 International SV345 Electric Choke Wiring

Connect it to ignition switch switched power supplied in the run position only. Do not connect it to the ignition coil + terminal wire. That circuit most likely has a resistance wire of ballast...

Re: T-19 Shifting Question

I assume the bell housing location pins are in place? The bell housing is flat and true (front and rear faces are parallel) and the transmission is locating correctly on the bore ID.

After reading...

Re: no ported vacuum port

Both ported and timed advance configurations were used. You have ported. If it works well I would leave it alone. You will need to unplug the advance vacuum to set initial timing.

Re: Cluster F**k

Are you referring to the oring that goes on the valve stem? Yes, I would renew them as well.

Re: Compression difference in a 345?

Don't disconnect the fuel line for a compression test.

Re: for my california brethren, failed a smog and now a gross polluter

12-1 is rich 16-1 is lean. Stoic, ( the middle of the chart) is perfect so to speak. All fuel in the mix is burned in the stoichiometric air fuel ratio, less efficient burning raises CO and lowers...

Re: Wobbling Rear Tires

Hammered it on to the hub? Probably not seated or you could have bent the axle flange. Either way best to jack it up and see what is bent.

Re: Wobbling Rear Tires

Did it wobble before you worked on it? If not you likely caused on of the items you listed.
If you don't know, jack it up and see what is out of true.

Re: The Ultimate IH Fourbanger

I decided to have my turbo mount adapter made out side. Just don't have time to do it in house. It's in line at a friends CNC shop. Should see it in a week.

Re: Wheel stud.

Have you verified the hole sizes you are pressing the studs into? I assume the studs are ribbed where they press into the hub.
These are usually defined by the hole and such. Dorman has a nice web...

Re: for my california brethren, failed a smog and now a gross polluter

Yes idle mixture. Be careful you're not on to lean either, that can cause a partial misfire that will pass unburnt fuel.

This chart is helpful in the diagnostic process.

Re: The Ultimate IH Fourbanger

I'll TIG weld a V-band bung to the plate and then attach the down pipe with V-band clamp.

Re: The Ultimate IH Fourbanger

Kind of a wait and see. I envision an air cleaner housing on the passenger side front inner fender. Still looking for a suitable one.
Turbo outlet, down and in between the middle two intake runners,...

Re: The Ultimate IH Fourbanger

Some progress on this project.
1) Rotated the center bearing unit so the drain is down.
2) With the stock designed 2 bolt manifold I played with optimized turbocharger mounting and orientation. ...

Re: 392 won't start

I definitely recommend verifying that you see battery voltage
(~12v) at the pos. coil terminal with the points open. I have seen people hook the choke heater wire to the coil. Not a good thing.

Re: 392 won't start

If you have checked all other items, I would install a new condenser.

To answer your voltage question. If you still have the oem resistance (wire or ballast resistor) between the ignition switch...

Re: fuel pump install

So echoing what SB74 wrote, the can/eccentric is above the lever. To ease installation, rotate the engine so the cam is as high as possible and away from the lever. This will minimize the amount of...

Re: 1964 Travelall and 1967 Travelette All Wheel Drive's

Tail gate progress update. Over all I'm happy with the outcome.
Nice to have the arresting linkage back in place and working properly. It took some massaging to straighten things out and replace...

Re: 1964 Travelall and 1967 Travelette All Wheel Drive's

So still assembling the new tailgate. That should be complete this weekend and then to fab/install the gate drop arresting bars. I sourced nice originals, and NOS assist springs. The nut or whatever...

Re: The Ultimate IH Fourbanger

The log style manifold would need to be built such that the bolts that attach it to the head were either below or above the log. Either that or the log is set out wide so you could install and...

Re: The Ultimate IH Fourbanger

I think a custom "Log Styled" manifold would be better and cheaper. I would want it to be SS rather than any steel.

Yes to the stock Scout 80. The T90 should survive non abusive driving.

My...

Re: 1964 Travelall and 1967 Travelette All Wheel Drive's

Made a drawing of the hinge plate nut plate, and made two just incase the easy side defects. I used 3/8 mild steel, I think anything above 1/4 would do but 5/16+ is best.

Blasted primed and...
