Re: The Ultimate IH Fourbanger

How does this compare to the normal regrind that Jeff sells? That's what I have. It ups the exhaust lift a little bit.

And I looked over all those pics you sent. What a fascinating piece of...

Re: The Ultimate IH Fourbanger

Just emailed you a sketch to confirm configuration and some measurements.

Regarding the height of your turbo, the height I measured (your 5 7/8") from the peak of my valve cover is still about 2"...

Re: The Ultimate IH Fourbanger

Got your measurements today, as you know. I just now measured that distance from top of valve cover to the top of your turbo. It is several inches shorter than the height of the TRW turbo in my pic...

Re: The Ultimate IH Fourbanger

This is the best pic I have that illustrates the differences between your installing your 152 into an early 80 series vs. a 196 in a Scout II where the 1/2 V8 rotates back to the normal mounting...

As it stands now is fine. Perhaps the other when convenient. Progress comes slowly with projects such as these...

Re: The Ultimate IH Fourbanger

It does, thanks. And when you have a little more time for a couple of critical measurements, exactly what is the distance from the highest point of the valve cover to the top of that turbo? Thinking...

Re: The Ultimate IH Fourbanger

Very nice!

If it wouldn't be toooo much trouble, a view from the back end, looking forward, centered about the top of the valve cover, to see how high that turbo sits, would be nice.

Re: The Ultimate IH Fourbanger

So you weld a stub or something onto that plate to accept the end of the exhaust pipe? How does that work?

Re: The Ultimate IH Fourbanger

Looking at the end-view pic of the wedge/manifold. Imagine just the wedge bolted up, with a heavy wall log, say, 2" or 2 1/4" OD, lying against it. That log would be in about the same place as the...

Re: The Ultimate IH Fourbanger

How much boost you wanting to run? I'm going to keep my next iteration at 7#, which is probably well within the safety margin. About your T-90. Maybe you can score one of those special 152T T-90s...

Re: The Ultimate IH Fourbanger

Lookin' nice! So...do you think it is possible to get the dimensions from that spacer so one could be duplicated? Costly, maybe, but hmmm...

Edit: Robert, this engine is going back into a model...

Re: The Ultimate IH Fourbanger

Sorry I misinterpreted your question. It's a good one - like to know the answer to that myself. I'd post this on the BB. There are a couple of people that still having running 152Ts.

Re: The Ultimate IH Fourbanger

For some reason I have one left-over, fubar 152T compressor housing and it still has that little ID plate on it. Is what you are looking for on that plate or perhaps cast onto the housing's surface?...

Re: The Ultimate IH Fourbanger

Been a long time since I had a model 80. So there will be room above the frame rail? Just trying to visualize it.

Re: heater box - paint interior?

I think it's a good idea. I used a Rustoleum black paint inside of mine so the surface was smooth and clean, instead of a dirty, rusty one. Any paint smell eventually clears.

Re: Scout II 4-cyl EFI installations

I know the D's are taller (learned that the hard way once). So the Holley 4bbl and 2300 series 2bbl (same air horn size as the 4bbl) isn't the same as the TQ? If so I'd forgo a D so I don't have to...

Re: Scout II 4-cyl EFI installations

Bill,
Does the air cleaner used on the 79-80 Scouts with the Thermoquad have this 5 1/8" opening, you know, will it fit this TB?

Re: Rockers Welded vs. boat style

Your broken welded rockers rung a distant bell. I wonder if your springs weren't tired and you over-rev'd it (lower rpm's by the spring's standard) and kissed some pistons, which cracked the rocker...

Re: Delco 10si Alternator question

I figured it was a resistor but not why it was there. I'll leave it in place when I reassemble this thing this weekend. Yes, gazillion kits out there for around $20. The diode trio was literally...

Delco 10si Alternator question

I put a rebuilt alternator in my Scout about six months ago, and it has very few miles on it. It developed a problem where the battery would go flat overnight, and I traced the drain to the...
