Dt 360 would be a good diesel to stick in that truck. It has wet liners. Mechanical fuel pump. They used from the late '80's very early 90's.

I got the rope idea from bill usn-1 on the binder planet site. I wouldn't think that putting rope inside the cylinder would bent the valves especially when they are closed anyhow. Just trying to...

Just watching the video from the point of view of where you filmed it looked like the push tube wasn't moving. That lifter looks pretty dished.

If the rod is not tight against the rocker, peek down inside and see if the push tube is against the lifter. The push tube May be bent. Remove the rockershaft, and tap the valve in question and see...

Watching the video, the rocker isn't moving. You May want to remove the rocker shaft, and check that lifter.

I have lined up the timing marks on the gears, and installed the push tubes....nothing bent. On another engine I indexed the edge of the counterweight on the pulley as recommended by IH, either way...

Just to let you know a good da doesn't cost 500 bucks.....but since you don't have the means to use one anyhow, a block sander you can use by hand is really cheap. A long board sander is nice to use...

Pm sent.......da (dual action) sander. Naval jelly is for the rust, hardware stores sell it. I don't believe in priming over rust unless it has be chemically removed or converted. The epoxy primer...
