Re: SUA wandering

I have a '79 with 4" Skyjacker springs and a 1" over stock shackle. I went with 4 degree shims under the axle and that really made a difference. I intend the C&T at some point, but for now, this...

Re: I-4 and SV Engine Non-Oiling Rocker Assembly

Yeah man, that's using your noodle! And you didn't need to pull the pan down to figure it out...even better!

Re: I-4 and SV Engine Non-Oiling Rocker Assembly

This problem is not rocker oiling, but getting the oil pump to prime. His drill-down-the-distributor hole trick isn't working for some reason.

Re: I-4 and SV Engine Non-Oiling Rocker Assembly

Even .016" gap wouldn't prohibit some pressure build. Are you sure the drill was spinning clockwise? I always pack the gears with bearing grease after service to help them make a good seal and...

Re: Sv 304 Water Pump Inspection How To

That's a good idea. I too recycle the spent antifreeze. But I have an Oreily's down the road so its pretty convenient. Your idea reminds me of my mechanic buddy and the coolant filters they use on...

Re: 1965 D1100 4x4 driver/project

For rust abatement, you need an acid. CLR has a small amount of acid to cut thru hard water scale and rust in the bathroom. Simple Green, Dawn and Cascade cut grease. They won't do jack sh#t...

Also, to Dealbreaker74 on stretching a dollar, were talking cut into hairs and tie together for string stretch

Ha! Been there my friend. There was a day that I had no money and plenty of...

Re: Sv 304 Water Pump Inspection How To

Dude, I'm telling you CLR will help this mess out. You scrapped the idea earlier citing its incompatibility with aluminum (and it is).
But you don't have any aluminum in that engine. THe radiator...

Re: WORLDS RAREST 392 QUESTION !

I don't have the answer off the top of my head. But the first thing that comes to mind is could you not modify the carb flange mounting area to accommodate a reverse-facing carburetor? That would...

Re: Leaf Spring Disaster

My '74 did this on the pass side. When you weld it back together, be aware that the plastic fuel line and the rear electric bundle passes thru the frame at this point. That was a bad day for me......

Re: 1965 D1100 4x4 driver/project

Good news about the shop un-f****ing that terrible work. It was shameful, really.
Simple Green cuts grease, not rust. Use CLR, but don't leave it in for weeks...It'll eat the hoses. Drive it...

Re: Fixing Drunk Simulator

I was off base with that spring over conversion comment. This is a full size truck, not a Scout.
Those could be the original springs. Just need some TLC.

Re: Fixing Drunk Simulator

The springs always have a locating pin that runs thru the pack. That's what the axle will locate to. However, your spring-over conversion looks a little sketchy, so it wouldn't be a terrible idea...

Re: Fixing Drunk Simulator

The right front brake line....Is that a section of hard line coming from the wheel and then connecting to rubber flex line? Tell me I'm wrong...please.
The caster shims want to angle the kingpin...

Re: I-4 and SV Engine Non-Oiling Rocker Assembly

I would get an external oil pressure gauge from the parts store. A cheapie with the capillary tubing. Plumb it into the oil galley just forward of the stock sender. There will be a series of plugs...

Re: 1965 D1100 4x4 driver/project

Don't worry too much about a 90A alternator replacing a 65A unit. They only put out as many amps as needed. In other words, if the truck needs 22 amps to go down the road, the alternator will only...

Re: holley 4bbl carbs

4BBL Scout IIs came stock with Carter Thermoquad carbs. Holleys were on square bore 392s in the bigger trucks.

Re: Ammeter amp rating?

The alternator is analogous to the ignition coil...it only puts out enough to get the job done. So a 150 amp alternator by itself does not present any danger as long as the load doesn't exceed the...

Sorry Pat, it went to a guy down in San Diego. Just so you know, it came to me without the kickdown linkage, so you'd have been outta luck there anyway.
I'll have to pull that listing.

Re: courtesy lights under dash

I found some LED license plate lights that are super bright. Can't remember where I found them, but check Amazon or eBay. I'm sure you'll find something.

Re: unhooked my horn now i have no lights??

This may help with the dash lights. Its what I made up when I did a Kwikwire job on my '79. Still applies to a stock harness, but obviously the circuit numbers will be different.
Have fun! And...

Yes, you'll need that wire connected to the solenoid. #19 right?
If you had an automatic trans, the neutral safety switch would only pass power to the solenoid when the shifter was in park or...
