I am having rouble finding a vin decoder for my Scout 80, I have been able to find decoders for all other models except this one and I could use some help finding one thanks

First off, the Scout 80 platform never had a "vin" assigned. Through the end of the m/y 1965 production only a serial number was used. The first version of the so-called vin was used with the beginning of the m/y 1966 production run and is a thirteen digit sequence.

The serial number is also stamped on the frame rail, driver side, somewhere in the front wheel well.

Scrape till you hit metal than back off one layer...lol, sorry, couldnt help myself. You might be able to order a line set ticket from the serial number if they even did that back that far.

Haha I tried that but it hard to tell its been painted so many times and you will find different colors depending on where you look and how do I order a lineset ticket?

Not sure if iho north offers them, try there first, if not you can google "International Harvester line set tickets" and find someone that can order it for you.

Ok I need some input. I have a 1964 Scout 80 I am tryin to sell. Had a buyer look at it today. He tells me it is a (red carpet) Scout. I have never heard of such. Any thoughts or advise in tracing its pedigree? Thanks.

That info would be contained in the line setting ticket aka build sheet. Anything aside from that is just speckuguesstimation. You can order yours through the IH store link that is attached to this forum.

There are a couple of tell tale details that would indicate if it is one of the special edition scouts. If you were able to post a few photos of the Scout interior, dash, including the shifters and other inside details.

If you purchase a line setting ticket we could confirm it further.

IH Parts America offered them for $20
