Default 76 Scout II "rat rod" project

Figured I would throw my first post on here!

I finally picked up a 76 last week that my father in law has had in his possession for a fairly long time. It was a project he never got around to, and I'm taking over. This rig has been sitting in a field for the better part of 3-4 years (and spent the prior 7-8+ years sitting along side my inlaw's place). Prior owner made some pretty heinous interior modifications that are gradually being reversed.

specs:

76 Scout II
304 v8
4 speed manual
fairly stock unit at the time being

planned upgrades:
new 31" rubber on either 15 or 16" black d lugs
2 1/2" lift
motor clean up/carb rebuild
interior gut/repair/"rhino" line
roll bar/soft top eventually
clean up electrical/housing gaskets and rubber seals

demo progress has been gradual.

I have it down to bare floorboards now...rust in typical places, but not as bad as I thought it would be. I'll have those pics tomorrow. Motor is clean and turns over. Fluids changed/flushed and currently working on fuel tank (likely to just replace with a new poly tank)....carb to be pulled off this weekend. Good father in law bonding time.

Also...before anyone asks...the "rock" in front of the passenger rear tire was placed there by my buddy as a joke (grabbed it out of my landscaping and placed it there for "safety"). :d

Floor isn't too bad...May or May not be a candidate for a new rear floor panel...will have a few patches at the very least.

Looks like a great project...and you’re taking it down to the bare-bones!

Lots of hard work...please continue to update!

*thumbs up*
