It's official!

The 2010 edition of the Great Western Binder Bee will commence on July 16, 2010 and continue through the 18th.

As always, the show venue will be antique powerland in brooks, or.

We'll be adding a major new attraction that folks have been requesting, more to come about that when plans are firmed up.

But we ain't gonna fix what ain't broke...so we'll be following the same format as in years past.

This thread will be continuously updated until showtime!

Binder Bee dates are set after discussion with the Binder Bee production group and the venue. Show dates for future productions are determined based upon many factors and not any kind of tradition.

Mike:

I hate losing my only IH weekend but from what you said maybe there is a glimmer of hope for 2011.

I always enjoyed the bee. It was the emphasis for getting projects done or even starting one just days before heading down to the bee. Ironically I will be in portland for that weekend. So close but yet so far.

regards,
mjolnir

International Harvester scouts and trucks of oregon (IHSTO) announces "the Great Western Binder Bee" 2010 edition is set for July 16 thru 18, 2010. As always, the venue will be western antique powerland in brooks, oregon. This is the sixth year for this event to be hosted by western antique power, inc. Along with powerland-affiliated member organizations.

The theme selected for the 2010 event is...“International Harvester powers the family". We'll be featuring IH vehicles and gear that are typical of how we use these rigs in our daily activities here in the pacific northwest.

For the first time ever, we're adding a truck and 4x4 swap meet to the Binder Bee as an added attraction for participants and visitors. The swap meet will open Friday morning and conclude Saturday evening. Reservations for swap meet space, along with early bird bee registration packages will be available on March 1, 2010.

Friday, July 16 is slated as vendor set-up and show participant move-in and meet and greet. In the best IHSTO tradition, we'll host a potluck dinner in the rv camping area for all registrants at 6pm.

A full schedule of participant meet and greet, show and shine, children's activities, a parade of power for show registrants, and a catered participant barbecue dinner and raffle will fill Saturday’s agenda.

IH vehicles and IH-related products will be on display throughout the weekend and a judging team will select the outstanding display examples for awards, highlighted by the ernie bisio award which honors oregon’s own ernie bisio who is a living legend in the International Harvester world!

Sunday, July 18 activities will include a trail ride for off road-capable vehicles led by the IHSTO trail boss team, a continuation of the show and shine, and show participant visitation.

“vendor village” will include many specialty parts and service providers who are major supporters of International Harvester enthusiasts and end users around the country. Many other regional IH organizations will be in attendance representing agricultural machinery, construction equipment, household appliances, and stationary engines and equipment.

Participation in "kidzone" in past years has been a show high point! We now have children participating who have literally grown up having fun at the bee and have adopted willow creek railway as their own special place to hang out.

And check out all the attractions presented by the many powerland member organizations which are available to visitors during the bee:

antique powerland home page

Plenty of camping space will be available along with accommodations for rv parking with water and electricity (no sewage hookups though). The campground will be available for Thursday afternoon (July 15) arrival if appropriate reservations are made in advance. Campground reservations should be made by contacting powerland directly.

For additional information, registration packet, and an up-to-date schedule of events, contact International scouts and trucks of oregon/michael mayben, rodelizrd@gmail.com

Take time to visit the IHSTO organization website for latest updates regarding Binder Bee activities:

Lottsa behind-the-scenes bee activity going on!

Sponsor packets will go out by the middle of next week. The art work is nearing completion and posters will be printed and distributed by the end of March. The poster will also be available in reduced size format to all club members and sponsors to distribute as they see fit.

We hope to blanket the northwest with posters and flyers and really go all out to introduce the Binder Bee and antique powerland to folks who don't know about us, where else can you take the family to experience so much fun and education at one location...for free admission????

And...for the first time ever, steam up 2010 will be held over the two following weekends at powerland. And guess what,...International Harvester will be the showcase product for steam up! This year! IHSTO will be participating with ihcc chapter 30 in putting on a major display of IH-related agricultural and all other products, this display will be just inside the main entrance to steam up! So in actuality, the bee will keep rolling for three weeks this year!

We've made some adjustments in the show participant registration packages. Registration information will be put in distribution on April 20. We'll have packets going out in snailmail, by email, you can download right here in this thread, and you can also download from our club website. Also new, will be a club sponsorship/bulk registration program that could have a real cost savings for organized groups.

The registration packet will also include information regarding the first ever Binder Bee swap meet!!

We've had some "turmoil" the last several weeks around here with kathy now living temporarily in il and the family death. She'll be home Friday for a few days and we're gonna complete all the bee registration info and get it posted.

Another change in registration, we will be handling camping reservations at powerland ourselves now (kinda like we used to!). We have a pre-determined block of sites now for rv spaces, there will be a major group of large-scale model railroaders up from kali during the event also which is gonna add alotta stuff going on in addition to our own activities! They are bringing their own versions of the willow creek-style rollin' stock.

Stand by...it's coming!

We have!

And we got the spot for decker and rusty set aside also (they don't know that yet!).

Basically the same setup as year's before with the IHSTO production team set up in the same spots, and same for the ihon krew. The Friday nite potluck for all campers will be right there in front of our office also, like last year!

Lottsa bee-related stuff got completed this weekend!

The club sponsorship/group registration invitations will be mailed on March 17 along with sponsor packets.

We hope to have the last few details completed for the participant registration packets and available for distribution on March 19. A downloadable .pdf of the registration and camping information will be posted right here at that time.

Mike and kathy,

thanks for all of your hard work so far. I know it's difficult with kathy in il. Glad to hear it's starting to come together for another great Binder Bee 2010.

Lyle
