Default 2WD Front Axle Flip - Stupid... or Genius?

During installation of front 2WD axle w/ all new steering parts on new stock-height leaf springs, I noticed that if I installed the axle tube as it was before, it looked like 0* caster (of course) BUT... if i flipped the axle tube around so that drivers side was now passenger side... it gave me favorable caster. I haven't had it shot at a shop, so I don't know what I have now. I'm wondering if i did a stupid thing... or a super clever thing. Anyone?

Well the answer is how does it drive?

Sorry for late response... been working long hours lately. How does it drive? it's hard to say. Didn't drive it far (tranny leak & bad water pump... not to mention seat foam is 1/2 gone so it's pretty bouncy in there). Steering wheel seemed to want to center better. Shocks are also way too stiff (next upgrade). I guess i was mostly concerned about my camber. Scouts don't have any sort of camber built in, right? So (in theory) my flipping of axle wouldn't affect a non-existent camber? Thanks for any response!

There probably is a degree or so of camber designed into that axle. Some camber shims will fix it.

Yeah... I was kind of hoping there wasn't any camber built in. I guess I'll see when I get it checked out at the alignment shop. They'll probably say "Dang man... it's readings indicate that it's almost like this axle is in backwards!"
