Re: Strange Coolant Leak

Remember, the big nut is left hand thread and you'll need a strategic screwdriver wedge placement to prevent the shaft from spinning with your wrench force.

Re: 1972 1210 PICKUP 4X4 CAMPER SPECIAL LONG FLEET SIDE BED -IHPA DEALER LOT-

I'm still stupid-busy with this fire-related work, Jeff. Its a 7 day a week gig. I gotta keep going until either the weather gets too nasty or we actually get all the work done. I'm still...

Re: Location of Gauge Ground - 1971 1110

There are a number of possible causes for what you're not seeing from your instruments. You'll need to take the front face plate off so you can access the individual gauge clusters for closer...

Re: 1976 Scout Starting Problems

You don't need a different distributor. You just need the correct P-tron module that fits your model of distributor, in your case Gold Box. They come with installation instructions. That's pretty...

Re: Transfer Case question

The engine does not require a transfer case in order to run, so I wouldn't let your uncertainty about the case condition hold you up on bringing the engine back online.
First thing to check on the...

Re: BRAND NEW 392 MOTOR A COUPLE T19 TRANSMISSIONS,727 AUTO TRANS

As per forum rules, please update your ad to include a location of the items offered for sale and also individual prices for each. The "make an offer" approach does not comply. Thank you for your...

Re: &2 Scout II 304 Radiator Cap PSI

As you fill the radiator, the overflow bottle should also have an amount of coolant added to it, as there is a LOW/FULL mark on the bottle. It can take a while to purge all the air out of the...

Re: 66 Travelall - Delco Remy Horn Cross Reference

I think your conclusions are correct. If you could post a pic of your horn button guts, we might see something obvious. I don't know how much was changed from that vintage to the early 70's stuff...

Re: 1972 1210 PICKUP 4X4 CAMPER SPECIAL LONG FLEET SIDE BED -IHPA DEALER LOT-

Mr. Zaedster, I just wanted to let y'all know that I am interested in this truck. I'm a bit too busy at the moment with wildland fire related work to make any moves on it. It could be several more...

Re: thermo vacuum switch

Not many. I would be thinking more in terms of inches rather than pounds. Use an "educated elbow" method. Snug, but not too tight. You don't want to warp it or break it.

Re: 66 Travelall - Delco Remy Horn Cross Reference

Ok, well that doesn't sound promising for the horns then. Somewhere, back upstream from the horns, will be a three terminal relay. They fail over time especially if they've been exposed to...

Re: 66 Travelall - Delco Remy Horn Cross Reference

What diagnostic steps have you taken to arrive at the conclusion that the horns themselves are at fault? They might be bad, but there are several other potential causes.

Re: 1976 Scout Starting Problems

Good sleuthing! Did you know that you have what's known as a "Patriot Scout"? If not, you need to research up on it. The Patriot and The Spirit of '76 edition Scouts were limited run, doll up...

Re: 5 speed vs 6 Speed 1967 1100a Travelall 304

More information will be needed to answer your questions. Primarily what model numbers the transmissions are and what vehicles they came out of.

Re: 66 Travelall 1100a Aluminum Grill, etc.

Chrome plated metal. Aluminum wasn't really utilized for vehicle parts back then the way it is today.

Re: 1965 D1100 4x4 driver/project

I like the Stant Lev-R-Vent rad caps. The 13lb-er isn't bad. You could safely go up to a 16lb-er with the radiator you have. I think there is supposed to be some type of felt gasket under the PSP...

Re: 1976 Scout Starting Problems

You can test it with your handy dandy meter or incandescent probe. You'll have power on the solenoid side of the fuse and no power on the opposite side if it has failed. That would be in addition...

Re: 1976 Scout Starting Problems

The fusible link is on the 12ga wire that runs between the large starter solenoid terminal and the BHC. Another name for it is "slow blow fuse". So no, you cannot use an inline fuse as they are not...

Re: 1965 D1100 4x4 driver/project

Back in the days before nanny-state-ism really took hold, the chemicals you could get in prestone radiator flush kits were actually caustic enough to do a good job at loosening rust and scale....

Re: 1969 Scout 800a w/304

That's a really broad question. It might help you to break the rig down into the major systems, ie drive train, running gear, electrical, brakes, steering/suspension, body/trim. Triage each system...

Re: 1976 Scout Starting Problems

There is a fusible link, but unless all systems are dead in the cabin, that wouldn't be the issue. There is a relay under the dash, but it's jumped across from the factory since you have a standard...

Re: 1976 Scout Starting Problems

If you want the engine to light off and run, you'll have to pursue one of several options which I'll outline in a bit. But, you've gotta crawl before you can walk, so your most immediate issue is...
