Re: Oil "blow out" = Engine "Mis-Fire" ???

Re: Oil "blow out" = Engine "Mis-Fire" ???

When the plug wires get bad, the coil usually is what ultimately dies. Since the wire resistance gets high, the plug is no longer the easiest path to ground, the windings in the coil are end the...

Re: Oil "blow out" = Engine "Mis-Fire" ???

good pressure. FP it making the necessary pressure to fill your carb fine. We can ignore that for now.

I If you do not have a filter on the carburetor side of the fuel pump you are probably good...

Re: Oil "blow out" = Engine "Mis-Fire" ???

To check fuel pressure, you would need to plumb a pressure gauge into the fuel line before the carb.

A little fuel in the oil is not an issue as it will simply cook off. if it was a bunch you...

Re: Oil "blow out" = Engine "Mis-Fire" ???

It is possible you have a bad fuel pump. Many times when they fail they dump fuel into the engine. If enough fuel gets in the oil, it will boil off and blow oil out. Smell the oil for fuel. See if...

It is a small hole in the axle tube in the rear side of the tube. You can usually Iíd the location from a build up of oil residue and crud.

Re: 152 no distributor spark

That is where the draft tube is supposed to go. Looks like some one cut it off. The draft tube hangs down towards the bottom of the engine so the leaked combustion gasses can exit the engine and not...

Re: Fixing Drunk Simulator

I second the wedge removal. Also want to say that the way your spring pack is assembled is bad bad bad. The leaf order needs to be returned to its original order. Basically you only have a 2 leaf...

Re: 4th Gear 45mph Max Speed

So 4th being 1-1, My 68 in low range 4x4, 45 is top mph in 4th gear. Seems the most logical diagnosis that you are in low range. Already mentioned by other members.

If you have the single lever...

Re: 1965 D1100 4x4 driver/project

I looked into the major brands. The last was the 400LE. That was replaced with an emissions safe formula and renamed. We would have to look at the standards that is meets. Thatís about all we can do...

Re: 1965 D1100 4x4 driver/project

None of the current diesel oils have enough. I dug through all of the available data sheets to see what amount they had. Unfortunately, in recent months they have reformulated the few that did in an...

Re: Just Purchased - Am I nuts?

I don't know how much data is available on Canadian IH's but the US versions build year can be closely mapped by production sequence number. You can acquire the Line Setting Ticket and it will have...

Re: 1964 Travelall and 1967 Travelette All Wheel Drive's

Now that the brakes are 120%, I am moving on to the drivetrain.
I want to replace all of the engine mounts to stop a rubbing/thumping issue that occurs while leaving from a stop. Also reseal this...

Re: 1975 500 (should I purchase?)

Hey CCCT, sounds like a good project.
Drive train wise, the axles should not be a big deal, the Eaton 5 speed is easier to source parts for than the IH built Fuller spinoffs. I really donít think...

Assuming it is an adjustable rear prop valve, crank the adjuster in 1/2 of its range and try to bleed.

Re: 40 year scout owner

There was a time that I knew all of the good machine shops. Not anymore though. I have always done all of my own rebuilds. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Re: Can't stop from Pinging

A couple of things. Basically pinging is the combustion pressures reaching the critical pressure before the piston is far enough passed tdc and on its way down. Either reduce burn rate or ignite the...

The main buildup of carbon is oil. If the others are not loaded up with carbon and in the off white to tan color range, you are very close on fuel mixture.

Sustained hi load driving and plug...

Re: Dana 44 Axle Shaft Crack ?

Itís very unlikely a crack would propagate from a smooth surface. 99% occur at a stress riser or corner. Magnetic particle inspection is the only true test for iron/steel.

Re: 71 345 oil pump

Oil pumps are not prown to go away quickly or even not so quickly.
You should not use the litter tick to indicate that the oil pressure is dropping. Put an oil pressure gauge on the engine and see...
