Re: Yes Another Tire Size Question

I had 32 X 11.5s mounted on 10 inch rims with a RC 2.5" lift on my 75 Scout. They never hit on the street, but definitely hit in the back of the rear fender wells when off road. If you just stay on...

Re: New 4in suspension, New problems

How do the front sway bar plate and front shackles look when the Scout is sitting on its wheels? Your old springs were probably pretty worn and sitting flat, which pushes the shackles towards the...

Re: 1976 International pickup

Was running till about 7 or 8 years ago. That's an interesting statement. Did they happen to mention if it was still running when it was parked, or was it parked because the engine seized?

Re: Dinner at The Smokin Pig May 8th at 7:00

Just added some info to my earlier post about the Buckeye Bonanza at Hollister Hills SRVA. Jeff, looks like a good time to come up to Hollister for a weekend - shouldn't be raining in June.

Re: Dinner at The Smokin Pig May 8th at 7:00

Hollister Hills Off-Road Association is Sponsoring the Buckeye Bonanza first weekend in June (1-3). Have to be a member of HHORA $20 ( http://www.hhora.org/enroll ). It's an organization that looks...

Re: Ride Quality with Rough Country 4" Lift

Spring over by itself will give about a 3" lift - at least the thickness of your axle tubes, so you would probably want the 2.5" or stock springs. The longer shackles usually require caster shims to...

Re: What springs and clips do I need for doors and hatch/tailgate?

Might be this one. Only seen these on one Scout, my 72. Think it's to keep the lift gate strap from hinging the wrong way.

Re: Door lock tumbler installation removal

No worries, I think it was your Bro when I dropped him at his truck up at the obstacle course. Holy crap, there's about 1/16 of an inch of material gone in that one you had pop out (the lip on the...

Re: What springs and clips do I need for doors and hatch/tailgate?

The tail gate latch return spring is the coiled one in the picture.

Re: What springs and clips do I need for doors and hatch/tailgate?

Jeff has the retainers (looks like the door retainers are on back order at the moment), they are kind of hard to describe. For a 74 you will want the longer retainer with the slot. He also has the...

Re: Question from an author

I was in Japan a couple of years ago and saw these little pepper things on display in a shop, so asked the guys I was with what they were. "Charms to ward off Demons" they said. Told them I had the...

Re: Door lock tumbler installation removal

Was able to get it back together using the picture Zaedster posted, thanks again was not sure where the spring went. Seems pretty solid, the lock set is only about 7 years old. Lubed it with some...

Re: Door lock tumbler installation removal

Thank you, a picture is worth a thousand words! Looked in the service manual and the parts manual, and couldn't find it in either. Doesn't mean it's not there, just I couldn't find it.

Re: Door lock tumbler installation removal

Thanks Jeff, I'll order a pair of the tumblers and an extra cylinder. Just don't like pulling the inner door panels out if not really necessary due to damage to the almost unobtainium plastic...

Re: Door lock tumbler installation removal

That is the clip that holds the whole lock assembly into the door. That part is fine. It's the center tumbler of the lock assembly that popped out, the section that the key actually rotates.

Door lock tumbler installation removal

1975 Scout II. This weekend at a Hollister get together, I gave a couple of people rides, and they both slammed the passenger door hard enough to rattle my teeth when they got out. Guess that's how...

Re: Rebuild?

For a 2.5" lift, longer brake lines will probably not be required. If it tends to wander, you might consider installing some 2 degree caster shims up front when you install the lift. The hardest part...

Re: Need help with vacuum advance with 304 and 2300 Holley

Another alternative is to mount a small 12 volt DC relay some place, mines attached to the top of the heater plenum by the passenger door. Use the wire currently going to the ignition coil from the...

Re: Tom Woods 1310 Super Flex Ujoint

The joints move the crosses back away from the yokes. The center of the crosses of the stock u-joints were hitting the end of the pinion shaft and output shaft of the T-case on mine. I have a similar...

Re: Intermittent valve train noise

A sticking valve maybe? Seems the dreaded worn cam bearings would not be an intermittent problem. When you " limped" home was it misfiring, or were you just being cautious?

Re: Alternator problem 10si

These articles helped me immensely when I went to a 100 amp alternator in my 75 Scout. Sounds like you probably have a problem with the voltage regulator in your alternator, 16 volts can fry your...

Re: 1973 Open Knuckle Dana 30 Disc Conversion

Another thing I just remembered, the stock drum wheels probably won't clear the calipers.

Re: 1973 Open Knuckle Dana 30 Disc Conversion

Lets see if I recall how to post multiple pics. Rotor is missing form group shot, but that's what is entailed from "Cs" out. Also not present are ball joints, bearings, seals etc. Your present hubs...
