Both sides of mine have been repaired. A friend at a muffler shop did a great repair. But look on the bright side, you are 25% into a reverse shackle conversion.

Those shims are set to remove castor. Remove the shims and replace worn parts and then take it to a good shop for an alignment.

One possibility is that the dizzy is installed a tooth off and the rotor is not aligned with a terminal. Also check the coil & plug wires for continuity.

Question Changing freeze/welch plugs without removing engine

Even though there is only 20k on the rebuild, the welch plugs on both sides of the block are corroded and weeping. Anyone have techniques or tools that could make putting in the new brass plugs...

Towed lots of boats with my Scout with no problem. Use a good receiver hitch and that your suspension and tire pressures are up to snuff.

Hi Harry, The only way to raise the oil level, without it being grey, is fuel. The 2 possible sources are a leaking fuel pump diaphragm or flooding carb. What could be happening is the oil is so thin...

Usually what is described is a worn out syncro. With it in 3rd and you accelerate then decelerate, how much does the shifter move fore and aft? Much movement over an inch is indicative of wear.

It might be time to remove the spark plugs, set #8 on TDC compression stroke and see if the timing mark aligns with 0.

There are 100's of different Holley carbs. Give us the LIST number found on the air horn so we can look up what you've got. I'm running LIST 8007 390cfm square bore carb on my Scout's 345.
