Re: How is a scout 80 parking brake supposed to work?

Mine was like this when I purchased it too. I took it out and found out that it was caked inside with dirt and other crud. I ended up disassembling it and cleaning/lubing it real good, and now it...

Re: New Owner!! 1971 800b door removal

Pins just pop out. Although if they are rusted in, they might need some persuading. Soak them in pb blaster, and then use a bfh and a drift and pound them out from the bottom.

I don't need a whole column, but what kind of shape is the steering wheel in? I am interested if it's in fairly decent shape.

Re: scout 80 lift

Wow, it's been a long time, probably 10 years, since I did the springs, but if I remember correctly, they were about $800 shipped to my door.

Re: scout 80 lift

how much lift do the fj springs give you?

I put alcan 4 inch springs on my 65, and I am running 31's. I don't think that 33's would be a problem. Also, I am still SUA.

Re: rear pinon angle

What do you consider the "nose"? The pinion or the diff cover?

Imo, the pinion should be slightly raised. Of course, it all depends on the amount of lift.

Yep, when I did mine on my 65, I had to cut most of them out. Re-using them was not an option......

Re: front dana 44

I've got a front 44 axle housing that I got for free. I'm not going to use it, so I would be willing to pass it on for free. It is in san diego (north county). It has gears in it (not sure the...

Re: '67 Scout 800B Questions

If your Scout is really an 800B it would be a 71. In 67, it was just an 800.

Re: building a 1965 scout 80

Check your rear axle to see if its a d27 or d44. Some 65's came stock with d44's (mine did). If you have a d44, your miles ahead over the d27 as far as...
