Re: spark plug fouling analysis

Amazing longevity. I'd say you've gotten your money's worth out of it and then some.

Re: New Members please check in here

Welcome Andy. This is not to dissuade you from going the hydro-boost route. If something is wrong with your power steering pump, replacements are common and easy to change out. That's after the...

Re: Testing the Fuel Gauge

Assuming your TEMP and OIL gauges are still functional, about the only piece that can be immediately ruled out is the CVR. Everything from the gauge to the in-tank sender is a potential culprit.

Re: T19 WIDE ratio and Dana 20

You didn't include a location or price in your ad. That might have helped.

Re: T28 (BW model 8) stall in drive or reverse

Have you read this thread:

https://forums.ihpartsamerica.com/showthread.php?t=13271

Might be of some help. I can figure my way around a fair amount of TF727 issues, but I'm next to clueless...

Re: T28 (BW model 8) stall in drive or reverse

How's the engine tune condition on this vehicle? Do you have a vacuum gauge that you could connect to a manifold vacuum source for readings that could either indicate or rule out a vacuum leak?

Re: starter issues?? or over worry

Ok. That would be a T-18 4spd manual. No starter spacer shim required. Yes, you're seeing how important it is for us to know some basic data about the rig in question so we can provide folks the...

Re: Ride Quality with Rough Country 4" Lift

From what I've seen and read concerning the SOA conversion, is that it generally nets more than 5" of lift with the stock springs.
In my own observation, when it comes to the Rough Country...

Re: IHC Electrical Schematic Library

The PDF attached to post #12 of this thread is the closest thing that you will find in electronic form here. That would likely get you 90% of the way there or better, but it pertains to prior model...

Re: Spark plug gap

You can open them a little, say to .040 with no harm done. You won't feel any difference in the seat of your pants, though. Those are good spark plugs. I run them too.

Re: starter issues?? or over worry

Let's tap the brakes a second and be sure about what transmission you have. A 1972 model with an auto trans should be (note my usage of italics there) a Torqueflite A-727 aka TF 727, or in IH...

Re: 1970 1200D overheats when idleing

Like Robert said, if clutched and you can flick the blade with your finger while the engine is stopped and it spins easy like a roulette wheel, its shot. A clutched blade should move when finger...

Re: Question from an author

For that time and place, I could see a guy strolling into some backwater wrecking yard and gaining access. Maybe he's got a small tool bag, or maybe the place lets him borrow a couple wrenches and...

Re: Question from an author

One thing that would fit the bill would be a failed ignition coil. Its an item that isn't necessarily Scout specific. It crosses over to vehicles of other makes from the 60's and 70's. Easy to...

Re: 1968 1300 C

You're right. Sorry, it's been awhile since I've dealt with the full floater style. You do have to pull the axle shaft and remove the wheel bearing retainer nut and bearing. Have you also tried...

Re: 1968 1300 C

Yeah, I wouldn't be whacking on the drums with any BFH's. The shoes are rusted to the drums. Its a difficult bond to break. I've had luck in the past by working small, then gradually larger pry...

Re: Universal joint problems - rear drive shaft.

*Most Scout drive shaft u-joints, regardless of position, will use the outside snap ring style caps such as Dana 5-153X or Moog/Precision 369 as just two of several options that will cross reference....

Re: Any able to identify the auto trans?

Right below that tag is a flat machined pad with numbers stamped into it. Degrease that pad and we might have something. The serial number is cool, but doesn't give us anything to go on.

Re: Any able to identify the auto trans?

If you can find an IH p/n anywhere, that could help nail it down. Look around the fluid pan mating surface for any machined flat places covered in rust and guapo. Its setup for either a rear wheel...
