T-27 should be a Borg Warner automatic, so it does not use the spacer for the starter.

Only the Chrysler Torque-Flite 727 automatic uses the starter spacer.

All manual transmissions do not use...

Wether the starter spacer is utilized is dependent upon the transmission that is currently installed.

An "IC" or Improved Cooling engine has the steel water tube(s) attach to the engine block. Non-improved cooling or the original design, the steel water tube(s) attach to the cylinder head(s).

The "new" engine was pulled from a Scout chassis. That is why the oil pump and oil pan are different. They are like that to clear the front axle on a Scout.

Simply rebuild the 'old' oil pump...

You might have a Dana 60-5, which is a Dana 60 center section with Dana 44 tubes and shafts. 5 x 5.5 wheel bolt pattern. Used on some half ton pickups and Travelalls.

I use a Plews Tools part number 72-163, 1/2" Distributor Wrench.
The drive end is 1/2" with 12 points.
Drive off-set is about 1", working height is about 10".

It works well on IH I-4 engines,...
