Hi,
this question really shows my lack of experience with IH trucks. So perhaps someone can help me set this up correctly.
My '62 crew cab has several bad fuel / gas tank filler leaks. Thought I would start at the fender and work my way down to the tank. First, I removed the filler plate and hose from the front fender, as shown in the pics below. Note, it's just a radiator hose, kind of split and flared out at the filler plate. Am I missing some other type of filler neck piece or is the top of the hose supposed to be flared out and held in place by the fill plate? Shouldn't the top filler plate look more like the last picture below?
And I noticed what I'm sure is the gas tank vent hose that goes to nowhere - it just loops around in the space near the filler hose, then stops, open to the atmosphere. I know there was no charcoal canister back then, but should this vent hose be open to the elements? What is the proper way to connect this fuel tank filler hose and vent hose assembly?
And what emblem is supposed to go in the two little holes above the filler cap?
Thank you for your help.
Steve
